Mardi Gras beads come in all sizes and lengths. Here we have put together a quick guide to help you with your decision on which Mardi Gras beads to purchase.
Diameter: Most Round Mardi Gras Beads are measured in millimeters (abbreviated as mm) for their diameter. 10mm = 1cm = 0.4 inches. Thus when you hear a bead described as a 12mm 48 inch Mardi Gras bead, you know that 12mm is the diameter of the plastic balls that make up the Mardi Gras beads. To the left is a chart of the various standard diameters of Mardi Gras beads. However, depending on your screen resolution the true size may not be accurate, so we have created a printable Mardi Gras Beads Sizing Chart here that should print fairly accurate sizes for you.
Length: Most Mardi Gras beads' length is measured by the length of the entire strand of beads if you clipped them and stretched the entire strand out. Thus, an 18mm 60 inch Mardi Gras bead hangs around your neck at actually about 30 inches in length, and 22mm 48 inch Mardi Gras bead hangs around your neck at about 24 inches.
